Throughout the LDS Book of Mormon is a cycle that Latter-day Saints call the pride cycle. The pride cycle describes how the people in the LDS Book of Mormon continually go from doing good and being prospered by the Lord, to being prideful because of their wealth and becoming wicked - only to be punished by God with wars, famine, or other trials which cause them to be humble and repent, repeating the cycle. From this LDS Mormons learn not to forget the Lord nor their beliefs.
